CertsDue vs Expiration Reminder

Both track expiring certifications and remind you before they lapse. Expiration Reminder covers much more ground, from insurance certificates to vehicles and text alerts. CertsDue tracks staff Credentials only and prices by headcount.

  • Pick CertsDue if staff Credentials are all you track, you want to start at $29 a month for up to 25 Staff Members, and you want each person to send in their own card from a link that needs no login.

What you would pay

The two tools count different things. CertsDue counts people. Expiration Reminder counts Expiration Items, and its pricing page does not define an item1. The table below assumes each Staff Member holds three Credentials (say a guard card, a firearm permit and a CPR card) and that each Credential is one item. Ask Expiration Reminder how they would count your records before you compare.

Regular monthly prices. Expiration Reminder costs less when billed annually: $44, $89, $161 and $359 a month by plan.1

60 staff180Team, $59Professional, $99
150 staff450Business, $99Professional, $99
300 staff900Scale, $149Business, $179

At 40 staff, Expiration Reminder costs less. CertsDue costs less when people hold several Credentials each and the item count pushes you into a higher Expiration Reminder plan. At 150 staff the price is the same.

CertsDue Founding Members pay half price for their first 3 months, then 20% off for life. On the Team plan that is $88.50 for the first 3 months, then $47.20 a month.

Strengths, side by side

Where Expiration Reminder is stronger

  • Text message reminders are listed on every plan, and the homepage mentions WhatsApp. CertsDue only sends email.1,3
  • It has a mobile app. CertsDue runs in the browser.1
  • It tracks more than people: insurance certificates, vehicles and locations.3
  • It connects to HR, ATS and CRM software, so your records can sync.3
  • You can try it for 14 days without a card.1
  • Higher plans add escalation emails, single sign-on and advanced permissions.1
  • It is live today. CertsDue launches October 19, 2026.

Where CertsDue is stronger

  • It starts lower: $29 a month for up to 25 Staff Members, against $49.1
  • A guard with three cards counts once. Adding a Credential to someone never moves you up a plan.
  • Every Staff Member gets a personal upload link. They open it on their phone, photograph the card, and you approve it.
  • The Manager confirms every date the AI reads before it is saved.
  • It was built for three kinds of teams: security firms, construction crews, and warehouses and plants.
  • Founding Members can get a full refund for any reason until November 18, 2026.

Which one fits

Choose Expiration Reminder if

You manage expirations across staff, vendors and assets, you want reminders by text, or you need your tracker to sync with an HR system. It also suits teams that want to try before paying anything.

Choose CertsDue if

You run a security company, a construction crew or an industrial team, the thing you worry about is a card in someone's wallet running out, and you want the cheapest way to see every expiry date for a team of up to 25. You are comfortable buying from a new company with a refund window.

Switching to CertsDue

CertsDue imports your staff list from a CSV file, so export your roster from Expiration Reminder or your HR system first. Then add Credentials by uploading photos or PDFs of each card, which the AI reads, or send each Staff Member their upload link and let them do it. You can type a date in yourself when a card has no printed date.

Questions

Is CertsDue cheaper than Expiration Reminder?

It depends on team size and how many Credentials each person holds. CertsDue starts at $29 a month for up to 25 Staff Members. Expiration Reminder starts at $49 a month for 150 Expiration Items (checked October 2026). For a 40-person team, Expiration Reminder's Starter plan can cost less; for a 60-person team with three Credentials each, CertsDue costs less.

Does CertsDue send text message reminders?

No. The launch version sends email reminders to the Manager. Expiration Reminder lists SMS reminders on its pricing page.

Can CertsDue track insurance certificates (COIs)?

No. CertsDue tracks Credentials held by Staff Members. Expiration Reminder offers COI tracking.

Do both tools read expiry dates from photos?

Both describe AI that reads documents. CertsDue reads the Credential type and expiry date from a photo or PDF and asks the Manager to confirm. Expiration Reminder's AI DocScan page says it extracts data and fills in records; its pricing page does not say which plans include it.

When can I start using CertsDue?

On October 19, 2026. Founding Members get an email that day with a link to set up their account, and their 3 prepaid months start then.
