Spreadsheet alternatives for certification tracking

You have probably outgrown the spreadsheet if any of these sound familiar:

• A card expired and nobody noticed until a client or inspector asked.

• Getting proof together for an audit means digging through folders and inboxes.

A tracker does four jobs a spreadsheet leaves to you: it reminds someone by date, collects the card copy, shows what is due at a glance, and produces a report you can hand over.

Nobody gets reminded

This is the most common failure, because a spreadsheet only helps when someone opens it. Google Sheets notification rules fire on edits and form submissions, not on dates¹. 1. Clean the sheet first: one row per Credential, one date format, and each person's name spelled the same way every time.
2. Add a column for each card's issuing state or body if you track the same card type from several places.
3. Export a CSV file. RenewalTracker includes unlimited data importing, CertLister imports credentials from CSV, and Mitti takes credentials in bulk from CSV^5,7,9.
4. In CertsDue, import your staff list from the CSV, then upload each card or send each Staff Member their link. Where a card has no printed date, type the date from your sheet.
